The anchorage systems wedges and barrels are also use in pre & post tension concrete manufacturing. Wedges are Pieces of tapered high-strength heat-treated steel with internal serrations (teeth) that penetrate the prestressing steel during transfer of prestressing force.
A Barrel is cylindrical component fitted over a single prestressing strand at an anchorage, and that transfers the strand force to the anchor via tapered wedges located within its internal conical recess. A set of Barrel can be used with a momo-strand stressed tendon as an alternative to an anchor block.

Quality assurance in the production of anchor grips, faulty or damaged anchor grips are a source of particular annoyance since they cause delay and reduce efficiency but far worse than any such annoyance is the risk of even fatal accidents that is involved if faulty grips are used. This alone is reason enough for us to set extremely high standards for the quality of their anchor grips.
High quality can only be ensured if anchor grips are regularly and comprehensively checked and so we subject our grips to extremely intensive tests - some automatic, some manual - in order to be sure that none leave our works that do not meet our own highly critical standards in respect of safety and effectiveness.
